Happy National Custodian Appreciation Day! All Sioux Falls School District buildings are empty today, but students and staff will be welcomed back tomorrow to safe and clean facilities, thanks to the behind-the-scenes work of our hard-working custodial staff! Please help us say 'thank you' to these incredible individuals – many of whom work early, early mornings or late, late evenings, and everything in between! We are so grateful for each and every one of them!
Excuse us while we brag for a minute… Our Superintendent is pretty talented! Dr. Jane Stavem is an accomplished pianist, vocalist, trumpet player, French horn player, percussionist, xylophone player… oh, and she also plays harmonica! 😉 These talents, along with her deep love for all things Fine Arts, earned her the honor of Parade Marshal for Festival of Bands 2022! We are proud to be lead by someone who values the role extracurriculars play in “preparing each student to succeed in a changing world!”
It’s a beautiful morning for the Festival of Bands! The parade starts in 5 minutes. If you are unable to join us in-person, watch live here! https://youtu.be/ZtfRvery1G0

The Department of Homeland Security has designated September 25th as national "See Something, Say Something" day.
With the safety and security of our students and staff being the highest priority for the Sioux Falls School District, we come together in unity on this day as each of us plays a role in protecting our schools. Risk Manager of the Sioux Falls School District, Bob Bray, says, "The need for students, employees, families, and the public to report concerns of a potential or real threat can make all the difference in preventing a serious incident." It is crucial for us to be prepared to recognize and respond to signs of suspicious activity. Please help us keep our schools safe by taking the time today to recognize the steps you should take if you see suspicious activity happening in or around our schools.
If you see suspicious activity, report it to law enforcement and describe what you observed, including:
⚠️ Who or what you saw;
⚠️ When you saw it;
⚠️ Where it occurred; and
⚠️Why it's suspicious.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our schools safe!
