You won't catch her reading (for fun) at work, and you'll never hear her "shushing" kids. This librarian has transformed the center of Whittier Middle School into its heart. Students and staff want to be here constantly. Because of Becky. https://youtu.be/Hw55W-Cva00
At a HS facility like the CTE Academy, business is everything: sponsorships, internships, job shadows, guest speakers, career fairs, field trips and career planning. So the business manager is BUSY. But she's so much more than that. Meet Lynn. https://youtu.be/vN0h4YNErZw

Elementary students across the District celebrated National Read for the Record Day today! 📚
Read for the Record brings together millions of adults and children across the nation each year as they read the same book on the same day, building an intergenerational community through reading. This year's book selection was Nigel and the Moon by Antwan Eady, which encourages children to celebrate where they come from, who they are, and who they want to be.
Community members like Mayor Paul TenHaken and Vaney Hariri helped students celebrate the day with a virtual reading of Nigel and the Moon, and South Dakota's very own Secretary of Education, Tiffany Sanderson, stopped by R.F. Pettigrew Elementary for an in-person reading of the book.
Thanks to all those who helped us celebrate this special day!
Today we introduce you to our second All Star of the year, Bobbie Williams! 🤩Bobbie is one of our outstanding staff members at Community Campus that provides programming for our Sioux Falls School District students ages 18-21.
Bobbie's co-worker Sarah nominated her and shared this about her "Bobbie has so much knowledge regarding transition and takes on many extra tasks willingly. She is always encouraging of others and leads our staff in teacher appreciation activities to celebrate our wonderful teachers at Community Campus. She is kind, caring and loves what she does for our students with disabilities. She has been a role model for new staff and always helps out (even without being asked), whether it's teaching a class or helping a co-worker problem-solve. She is welcoming to new staff and a true team player. The SFSD is so fortunate to have Bobbie on our team."
Thank you, Bobbie for being an integral part of our District! 🌟
October marks National Principals Month, which honors principals for their significant impact on the success and well-being of our nation’s students. We would like to take a moment to say THANK YOU to all Sioux Falls School District principals for being a guiding light in our schools!
Today marks the 23rd Annual Lights On Afterschool event! Launched over 20 years ago, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families, and communities.
In honor of this event, Kids Inc. staff at all locations will be hosting celebrations throughout the next two weeks for students and families to participate in. Activities include talent shows, cookie decorating, pumpkin paintings, dance parties, art shows, scavenger hunts, and carnivals! These events are meant to bring awareness to the importance of quality after-school programs for kids.
Please help us say thank you to our Kids Inc. staff who play a MAJOR role in so many of our students' education journeys. We are incredibly thankful for each and every one of them for their dedication to the District and our students!
