It’s Day 3 of South Dakota Week of Work!

Today, we are celebrating the power of partnerships. In the Sioux Falls School District, preparing students for their future careers doesn’t happen in a vacuum; it takes a community!

From ag to healthcare, retail to welding, local businesses and industry leaders step up to offer students a glimpse into the real world of work. These partnerships are more than just opportunities, they are powerful connections that help students discover passions, build skills, and imagine what is possible.

Events like Pizza, Pop, and Power Tools, hosted at the CTE Academy each year, is a prime example. During this hands-on experience, middle school girls from across the District work alongside construction, welding, and heavy equipment operation professionals. They learn new skills, build confidence, and have fun, all while gaining exposure to high-demand, high-skill careers.

Whether it is through internships, career fairs, guest speakers, job shadows, or industry-led events, our community partners are shaping tomorrow’s workforce. Their willingness to mentor, teach, and connect with students helps bring classroom learning to life in meaningful, lasting ways.

This Week of Work, we celebrate the people and businesses who “show up” for students, and we thank them for helping prepare the next generation of leaders, creators, and problem solvers!
