District and community leaders stand in front of the new Marcella LeBeau elementary school

Yesterday, we celebrated a special milestone in the construction of Sioux Falls School District’s 24th elementary school, Marcella LeBeau Elementary!

SFSD hosted its first-ever “Topping Off Ceremony,” which marks the placement of one of the final beams of the structure, symbolizing progress, unity, and good fortune for the future students and staff who will call this school home.

The event also honored Marcella LeBeau, the school’s namesake, recognizing her legacy as a Lakota nurse, leader, and advocate.

Construction is on track to open this fall and we look forward to serving families in the growing northwest Sioux Falls neighborhood!

Watch the ceremony here and stay tuned to the end for your very own tour of the school’s progress! --->
