Students in K03 celebrated Earth Day by creating art pieces using the style of pointillism.

EFA+ 5th graders are learning about the importance of Functional Writing by creating their own menus inspired by a James Beard nominated chef’s restaurant in the Midwest.

Elementary schools in Sioux Falls offer special area classes: Art, Music, Physical Education, and Library.
At EFA+, students attend 3 additional special area classes: Dance, Drama, and Art Integration.
Recently, students in dance have been participating in a ballet unit.

This week EFA+ 5th graders created mini greenhouses.
This helped them review many concepts for their math, reading, and science assessments.
Even preparing for a test can be engaging at an A+ school.

In music class, students at EFA+ learn to play African Tubano Drums to instill lessons of respect, teamwork, and community.
EFA+ 5th graders have the opportunity to attend STARBASE.
During their first visit they worked cooperatively to code with Sphero Robots.
5th graders are combining their Word Smart + Art Smart talents by creating Grammar Wordles about a notable person.

The Sioux Falls School Board approved a recommendation at their meeting tonight to move the last day of school from Tuesday, May 24, 2022 to Wednesday, May 25, 2022 due to the one day of school missed for inclement weather in December.
One the unique opportunities EFA+ students have is belonging to a MI (Multiple Intelligences) Exchange Family.
MI Exchange is a time where mixed grade level groups (or families) gather to learn about an artist and create an artist trading card.
Each teacher leads a MI Family. Students stay in their MI Exchange Family throughout their years at EFA+.
This is a great opportunity to bond with staff and students outside the student’s assigned classroom.
This week is also Assistant Principal Appreciation Week!
