3rd graders took their ball handling skills to the next level in P.E. by moving on scooters!

This week in Art Integration, 5th graders are learning about Michelangelo as part of their study of the Italian Renaissance.
Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel ceiling in fresco between 1508 and 1512...mostly while positioned flat on his back.
Completing a work of this magnitude, under such difficult circumstances took grit and determination.
The 5th graders got to experience it on a small scale today by painting on a paper taped to the bottom side of the art room tables.

Kindergarteners have been learning about weather.
In Art Integration, they used their Art Smarts and Nature Smarts to create a Weather Mobile.

2nd graders visited The Outdoor Campus this afternoon. They had a picnic, and got to experience Nature Smart learning!

EFA+ 4th and 5th graders have started painting on canvas in Art!
Because of a generous donation to the Sioux Falls Education Foundation by the Winker family, art teachers were able to apply for grants to enhance their program.
The funds awarded to EFA+ were used to buy canvases, easels, paints, and brushes.

April 6-12 is National Library Week! We love our EFA+ Library and Siouxland Libraries.

In Art Integration, 2nd graders created a beaded bracelet to represent a 3 digit number. They used color symbolism for the hundreds, the tens, and the ones. Then they met with a partner and used their bracelets for math work. First they identified the numbers represented on each bracelet. Then if they both had a black band, they added the numbers. If they both had a white band they subtracted the smaller number from the larger number. If they had a mix of white and black bands, they got to choose addition or subtraction.

The 5th graders participated in a lesson called "chair-bata" in Dance. Mrs. Jacobson lead this inclusive lesson based off of Tabata (high intensity interval training).

During the month of March, EFA+ participated in Everybody Reads.
We met our goal of 350,000 books, which means a donation will be made to REACH literacy!
In fact, we surpassed our goal with more than 418,000!
