In February accelerated 8th grade students presented their NHD projects to judges from the community. 14 projects were selected to move onto the regional contest held at the Siouxland Courthouse Museum in March and 8 projects qualified to move onto the state contest held at SDSU on April 9th. These 12 students did an amazing job of representing BRMS yesterday at the NDH state contest as they presented their projects, each of which connected to the theme Rights and Responsibility in History.
Congratulations to the following students who placed and will be advancing to the National Competition in Washington DC in June. Never before have we had this large of a representation at the National NHD competition from BRMS.

Očéti Šakówiŋ Owaúŋspe 8th graders got a chance to visit Augustana University campus last week. They interacted with staff from the departments of Social Work, Theatre and ASL. They also visited the Midco Hockey facility and Elmen Center to hear about available student activities and fitness resources. This was a great opportunity for our students to see educational options post high school here in Sioux Falls.

7th grade students and staff ended their novel study of The Outsiders with and opportunity to meet actor C. Thomas Howell, who played the character Ponyboy in the film adaptation.
Answers eagerly asked questions, and he shared to keep reading, and to believe in themselves. What a wonderful experience for our students!
