The 3rd grade wing was abuzz with activity today as students decorated candy houses. This is a tradition that started MANY years ago at JFK that students and staff look forward to every year. Check out these creative masterpieces from 303!

Winter Break is almost here--there will be NO SCHOOL from Friday, December 22nd-Tuesday, January 2nd. Our normal schedule resumes on Wednesday, January 3rd.

Our 5th grade students are having a super time reading with buddies in Junior Kindergarten. Pairing older learners with younger learners is beneficial to the older students by providing opportunities to practice reading, and to the younger students as well to provide an opportunity to hear what fluent reading. We believe that it also helps to build relationships and a sense of belonging among the students.

Today is a beautiful December day, but we know it can't last forever in South Dakota! Make sure you and your student(s) know how to access Canvas for remote learning when weather that keeps kids home can be predicted in advance.

Here is a run-down of next week's dress-up days, as we countdown to Holiday Break!

It is not too late to fill out an application for Free/Reduced lunches! Those who apply on or before December 1st and are denied free/reduced meals MAY still qualify for incremental assistance if additional funds become available.

The Lost and Found is located just inside the main entrance to JFK. We are accumulating a LOT of lost items in search of their owners! Please encourage your kiddos to check the lost and found regularly, or, you can also check in at the office to take a look!

We hope to see you on Friday night for Family Movie Night!

Our countdown to Winter Break will start on Monday, December 4th! No pressure--students are invited to participate in as many (or as few) days as they'd like.
Here is a run-down of our first week, December 4-8:
Monday: Dress like you are going on a beach vacation!

Reminder: There is NO SCHOOL Wednesday, November 22-Friday, November 24 for Thanksgiving Break. We hope you enjoy this time with your family and loved ones!

Educators from the Old Courthouse Museum visited our 1st grade classrooms and heard about what life was like during pioneer times. They heard a short story, and then were able to see and touch items used by pioneers.

We honor those who have served or who are currently serving in the Armed Forces. There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, November 10th in honor of Veterans' Day.

SFSD's new Canvas platform allows students and families to access school assignments and homework anytime, anywhere. When winter weather can be predicted, students and staff will take devices home to continue their learning. Are you prepared? Check out the guidance BEFORE you need it!
