
Mr. Matzke, a JHS Counselor, visited all the Personal Finance classes on Thursday. He discussed hard skills and soft skills, work, military, 2 year and 4-year colleges and asked students to think about where they see themselves in the future.


To start of the school year, Mr. Hulstine's 3DII students have been competing in wheel throwing games. Students competed against each other to make the tallest, make the fastest, and make blindfolded.





There is still time to donate! NEW toys can be dropped off at Scheels or JHS this week until Thursday! The school with the MOST toys will win $5,000! The winner will be announced at the President's Bowl on Saturday! Toys will be given to local youth nonprofits.


Save the date! Jefferson Homecoming Coronation is September 18th at 7pm.


Help Jefferson win while giving back to the community. Drop off donations of NEW Board Games, Sports Balls, Puzzles, and other fun activities in the Jefferson bin at Scheels from September 1st-7th. The school that donates the most items will receive $5,000!

This week, Jefferson students in the PBL Academy were invited to participate in a summer meet up. Students engaged in team building activities, learned about volunteer opportunities in the community, and painted kindness rocks!

The Power of Partnership is highlighted, once again, to help SFSD families get connected to affordable internet. The SF Area Community Foundation is investing $50,000 to enroll households in the Affordable Connectivity Program (AFP). SD Voices for Peace leads the effort.
Voices for Peace is working with SFSD schools to inform families of this program. An enrollment specialist will continue to meet families during school events like parent-teacher conferences, success nights, etc. Eligible families should enroll today! GetInternet.gov



Calling all income eligible SFSD children who will be 4-yrs-old by September 1, 2023! We're recruiting students for FREE preschool with an event on July 5 or 6, 8am-4pm, at the SFSD Learning Lab on the Southeast Tech Campus - 2205 N. Career Ave. Tell your neighbors and friends!

Congratulations to sophomore Teonna Randle! She won 1st in the 2023 Walgreens Expressions Competition for her original Spoken Word. Nearly 5,000 submissions were entered from students across all 50 states. You can view her piece at https://expressionschallenge.com/2023-winners/


Junior, Charlee Kolb, received 1st place in the 2023 Congressional Art Competition for SD. Her drawing, “I’ve Been Here Before” is a self-portrait with overlapping poses and expressions. It will be on exhibit in the U.S. Capitol for the next year. Congratulations Charlee!


Yesterday, JHS graduates, who are alumni of Discovery Elementary, were celebrated for their graduation accomplishments. Congratulations Graduates!
