fall into a healthy school year
Hello Hayward Friends and Families! We are flying through September and it won't be long until October arrives. No matter how hot & humid or frigid & snowy it may be throughout the school year, you will see these 4 ladies out front every morning, working to keep our students (and themselves) safe during that crazy part of the day known as "The Morning Drop Off". Some things to remember: -We ask that you make RIGHT HAND TURNS ONLY to avoid crossing traffic and causing delays waiting for traffic to clear. -Northbound traffic on Valley View is frequently stopped to allow cars to exit the circle drive, you MUST exit to the right, even when you feel you traffic is light. Consistency keeps everyone safe. -DO pull over to the curb to allow them to safely exit to the nearest sidewalk -DO use our 2 crossing guards to halt traffic so you and /or your student can cross safely -DO be patient and plan ahead, some mornings have heavier drop off traffic and it will take longer. Consider dropping off your student at the playground and have them walk to the front of the school. Three of these four staff often must stand in the street, in the way of traffic, to keep your children safe. Please remember their safety is just as important as our student safety is and be mindful of them.

Each morning, our fourth grade friends take turns helping raise the flag in front of our building. They learn the correct ways to handle the flag, how to work together, and take great pride in performing this duty daily for our school.

🦺Morning drop off reminders and procedures:🦺 As we all prepare for our second day of school, we wanted to go over morning drop off routines and rules to keep things moving as smoothly as possible and to ensure the safe arrival of every student. Things to know and keep in mind: -The north parking lot is only for busses and our friends that need extra help throughout the day. -You may drop off students along Holbrook, Foxdale or Valley View but remind them to walk safely to the front of the school to enter through the main doors. -Only use designated crosswalks for crossing the street. Please do not cross the busy streets without using the crossing guards on Valley View, we don't want anyone being hurt while trying to get across. -Please cross the circle drive at the sidewalk rather than cutting across. Drivers may not see you stepping out into their lane as they are dropping off and leaving. We don't want anyone hurt. -Pull over and park at the curb before letting children out of your car. Stopping in traffic and allowing them to exit creates too much risk for someone getting seriously injured. We want everyone to be safe. -Only right hand turns are allowed when exiting the circle drive onto Valley View from 7:30am-8:00am. This is our fastest method for getting out of traffic and on your way. -Until 8:00am, the circle drive is only for drop off. Please have your student be ready to hop out as you stop in the circle. There is no parking along that curb until after 8:00am. If you need to enter the school to speak with someone, please find a spot along the street or in the parking lot. -Have grace and patience for others. Everyone has somewhere they need to be, and we will always be doing our best to keep traffic moving steadily to help you be on your way. As you can see, our main goal is ensure student, parent, and staff safety at all times. Please help us accomplish this by being patient with others and respectful of our morning routine.
