Rise and shine, Edison families! Nothing brings a community together like a big ol’ stack of pancakes—especially when they’re fueling our amazing EMS athletes!
Join us on Saturday, March 15th, from 9:00–11:00 AM in the Edison Cafeteria for a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser!
There’s no set price—just a freewill donation, so bring what you can and bring your appetite. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to support EMS Athletics, and we need your help!
Come hungry, leave happy, and support our student-athletes! No guarantees, but eating pancakes may improve your speed, agility, and overall school spirit.
Share this, bring your friends, and let’s make this breakfast a success!

Exciting milestone! On Monday, our Spanish 1 students successfully completed reading and discussing their very first short chapter book entirely in Spanish. This achievement marks a significant step in their language-learning journey, as they built comprehension skills, expanded their vocabulary, and gained confidence in their ability to understand and communicate in Spanish. ¡Felicidades, estudiantes!

Happy Social Worker Week!
In the Sioux Falls School District, every student's journey is unique. For many of the kids we serve, our school social workers are there every step of the way! Whether offering a listening ear, connecting families to resources, or advocating for students' well-being, their dedication ignites hope and creates lasting impact in our schools.
This year's theme, Unite to Ignite: Celebrating Our Impact, is a perfect reflection of how our social workers bring people together to create brighter futures for students.
THANK YOU to our incredible school social workers for your compassion and care!

Also, a huge congratulations to the other four finalists, Jennifer Aerts, Bryan Aukerman, Scott Amundson, and Jessica Foley. 🎉 Congratulations to our February Students of the Month! 🎉
We are so proud of these outstanding students for leading by example. You are truly role models in our building!
Thank you for living the Edison DREAM and inspiring others to do the same. Keep up the great work, and continue to show what it means to be a leader at Edison! 🌟

A recent Facebook post regarding Washington High School falsely claimed a routine request for a birth certificate was related to immigration status.
State Law (SDCL 13-27-3.1-3.3) requires all public school students to have a birth certificate on file within 30 days of enrollment. When required records are missing from student files, school staff regularly attempt to contact families before sending the required information to the State’s Attorney.
These requests are made solely to ensure compliance with State Law and to maintain complete student records. They are in no way related to immigration enforcement. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families.
Please reach out to your child’s school or the district office with any questions rather than relying on social media for accurate information. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping student records up to date.

Last week, our Student Council held a Super Bowl guessing fundraiser to support the Humane Society. Thanks to everyone's participation, we were able to make a meaningful donation! On Friday, our Student Council members had the special opportunity to present the check—and even spend some time cuddling an adorable kitten named Moo. We appreciate everyone who contributed to this great cause!

Last week, our 8th grade SLA students hosted their annual Guatemalan market! They deepened their knowledge of Guatemala while enhancing their Spanish language skills. Afterward, they created a Guatemalan artifact or handicraft and prepared presentations for our market day. This year, we were excited to invite students in our Newcomer classroom to experience the market, and everyone had an amazing time! It was wonderful to watch our Spanish-speaking newcomer students connect with our Spanish Immersion students in their native language.

Today, we had the pleasure of celebrating our Students of the Month from the first semester with their families. It was wonderful recognizing these incredible students and all their hard work! A big thank you to BRIO for providing beautiful music and showing off the amazing talent here at Edison. Go Cats!
