All grade levels enjoyed working on their hockey skills this week in Physical Education.

We can't wait for spring, right? While we wait, find joy in winter just like our EFA+ students do every day at recess!

Gyotaku is the traditional Japanese printing method that fisherman used to measure their catch. Fisherman would take ink, brushes, and rice paper with them while fishing, and they used the materials to create a print of their fish to show its length and size. Later it became an art form that is still practiced today.
The 1st graders have been working on measuring accurately in math. In Art Integration they learned about and created Gyotaku prints, turned their prints into beautiful art pieces, and then practiced measuring their fish. They also met with classmates, measured one another’s fish, and compared the lengths.

No recess, no problem! Students in 5th grade use both their Word Smart and Body Smart skills in a Spelling Ring Toss game!

The Beauty and the Beast cast had their first read through today! This is an important part of putting on a show. The actors become familiar with the script and take notes that will help them rehearse. They will be up and moving soon!

Dangerous weather conditions mean all activities/events for SFSD students for the
evening of Fri., Jan 12 and all day Sat., Jan 13, 2024 are being postponed.

In 4th and 5th grade Reading, students have been focused on analyzing the structure of fiction texts. Instead of completing book reports, groups of students chose a Multiple Intelligence to use as their presentation format.
