REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION LEVEL:

Master’s Degree in Counseling

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

Experience in a behavioral treatment program or counseling children in a school or agency setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Constant eye-mind and eye-hand coordination, hearing; intermittent speaking, standing, walking, writing, bending, and stooping. Frequent keyboarding and repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in working with students at-risk of school failure, working with outside agencies for at-risk students, and developing intervention strategies to support student success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

  1. Coordinator of 504 plans and ensure implementation.

  2. Coordinate with counselor, social worker, and other auxiliary or placement programs, to transition students successfully into regular school programs.

  3. Check and connect regularly with students in transition or assigned by school Problem Solving Team.

  4. Meet with at risk students and their parent/guardian to problem solve and discuss goals to meet needs of student to be successful in school setting.

  5. Provide individual/group counseling with Tier II focus.

  6. Work with crisis intervention, de-escalation, and prevention with at-risk students.

  7. Connect students with appropriate community mental health services.

  8. Attend meetings and collaborate with administrators, counselors, and social workers to identify and assist students with attendance issues.

  9. Assist administration with the referral of students to approved agencies for Risk/Threat Assessments.

  10. Assist with planning, development, and completion of Student Safety Plans.

  11. Attend/coordinate meetings with court service workers to give student updates and relevant information.

  12. Attend and participate in school multi-disciplinary team meetings relative to attendance, grades, office referrals, and behavior plan implementation.

  13. Lead Problem Solving Team as the coordinator and assist with developing strategies, interventions, and goals for programs.

  14. Other duties as assigned.

Climate controlled environment with some temperature variations. Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment.

HAZARDS

Occasional travel may cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
