Juniors and Seniors interested in attending South Dakota State University, the University of South Dakota or Dakota State University, if you have not had an opportunity to visit any of the campuses, here is your chance! The Sioux Falls School District will be providing a bus to take students to the USD campus on Thursday, October 26th, to the SDSU campus on Wednesday, November 1st, and to the DSU campus on Thursday, November 2nd. These trips are during the school day so you will be back by the end of the day. This is a first come, first serve event for each of these trips as there are a limited number of spots available. You must have a signed parent permission form signed to complete your registration. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please stop in the counseling office.

This morning students with the Okichiyapi Club at WHS celebrated their culture and traditions by setting up a tipi and performing a dance during lunch hour in honor of the upcoming Native American Day. As we pause and recognize Indigenous Peoples, we acknowledge that when students are given an outlet to connect with their heritages they have ample room to grow and thrive.





For any students interested in participating in bowling: There will be a parent meeting on Thursday, October 12th at 6pm in the WHS Library.

Seniors may apply to South Dakota's technical colleges and universities free of charge for two months each fall. During the free application period, you are encouraged to explore and apply to any of the technical colleges and universities. The free application period is October 1 - November 30. WHS Homecoming Week is October 2-6. Our dress-up days for Homecoming are: Monday - Marvel vs. DC Comics; Tuesday - Teen Beach Movie (Bikers vs. Surfers); Wednesday - Barbie's Day Out/"On Wednesdays we wear Pink"; Thursday - Class Shirts or Spirit Wear; Friday - Stunt Double Day (Twin Day).

Friday, September 29th we will be observing "Orange Shirt Day", a day to raise awareness about the experiences of American Indian Boarding School survivors in the US and Native Residential school survivors in Canada. The Okichiyapi club encourages all Warriors to wear Orange Shirts!

The first Renaissance Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 27th at 7:30 AM in Room E112. Please let Renae, in the Student Services Office, know if you are unable to attend.

Attention WHS Juniors and Seniors! The South Dakota Legislative Page Program is now taking applications for the 2024 Legislative Session. This is a great opportunity to see state government in action at the state capitol in Pierre, SD during the months of February and March. Applications are available in the Counseling Office. Students must have a 3.0 GPA to qualify.

The Translators of Cultures, in partnership with LSS and the Minority Youth Advocacy are offering a STARS III Youth Leadership Training program. Part of the training includes mentorship with business and community leaders that will share their story of success and personal story. WHS has a limited number of spots available for this opportunity. Applications are due September 29th and are available in the Counseling Office.

Interested in playing boys' basketball this winter? There will be a meeting in the main gym at 7:45 am on Wednesday, September 20th. This includes those who are currently in a fall sport. If you have any questions, reach out to Coach Tobin.

The 2023 WHS Yearbooks have arrived! Orders can be picked up in room A133 before school, during Warrior Halftime and after school beginning at 3:15pm.

Auditions for the fall theatre show are coming up and all students are welcome to try out. The play is "And Then They Came for Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank".
