James Trett

James Trett has been teaching for 43 years total. He began his teaching career ata small school south of Aberdeen called Northwestern High School. After that, he spent two years teaching in Luverne, Minnesota. He has taught government,history, and driver’s education at Washington High School for the past 28 years.
What are your retirement plans?
“I plan to keep teaching driver’s ed and the rest of it is kind of up in the air, but obviously travel, see my family and play a lot of golf and maybe go to more Packers games or something like that.”
What will you miss most about teaching at Washington?
“Just the student interaction–the teacher student interaction is awesome.”
What is your favorite memory from teaching at Washington?
“I would say just being able to learn how to translate from a small school to a big school is really different and just the diversity has been a wonderful education.”
What are some hobbies you are looking forward to doing or trying again?
“Well just being able to travel, golf. Other hobbies I'm not sure. Maybe something will come up, I'm not really sure.”
