Kindness Week
❤️At Sonia Sotomayor we are celebrating Kindness Week Feb 10-14. We will be working with students to show kindness to different groups of people. And of course, there will be dress up days!!
To show kindness to our community we are collecting new hats + gloves/mittens in all sizes for Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. They will give them out to those in need, young and old at a family night.
To show kindness to our friends students will be writing a Kindness Card to a Spanish Student at another Elementary School in Sioux Falls.
To show kindness to our school community a cart of treats will come around for teachers one morning.

Last Friday, we celebrated our 3rd-5th students for their positive behavior! From kindness to teamwork, they’re showing what it means to be role models in our school.

Join us Tuesday, February 4th, as we celebrate this milestone in a fun and creative way! Students are encouraged to dress like they are 100 years old—think gray hair, glasses, suspenders, or anything that makes them look like a centenarian!
This is a great way for students to celebrate how much they’ve learned and grown in the past 100 days. We can’t wait to see their creative outfits!

It's Scholastic Book Fair time! From January 31st through February 6th.
The Book Fair will be open for the start of the Movie Night from 6:00-7:00 PM. Only students accompanied by an adult will be permitted to go to the library.

Yesterday, our kindergartners enjoyed an exciting Fire Safety Puppet Show! The engaging puppets taught them important lessons about fire safety. Our Lobos had a great time while learning valuable safety tips in a fun and interactive way!
A big thank you to the presenters for making this event so memorable. Be sure to ask your kindergartner about their favorite part of the show!

Our Lobos had an incredible assembly featuring professional speaker Corey Greenwood and singer Hannah Nicolaisen! Corey shared his inspiring ACTive KINDness program, teaching us the power of kindness and positivity as part of our PBIS initiative. He reminded us of the amazing superpowers we all have:

✨ Any Act of Kindness
Hannah’s beautiful performance added something truly special, filling the room with music and energy. The students loved the lively sessions, full of fun, laughter, and meaningful messages about making a difference.
And don’t forget to check out the video of our amazing lobos singing their hearts out! It was a moment of pure joy and community.

2025-26 Kindergarten Application Deadline
If you have a child who will be starting kindergarten in the 2024-25 school year, you will need to complete the registration for the Spanish Immersion Program. Please complete the linked form as soon as possible. Incoming kindergarteners with siblings in the program will automatically receive spots, but you need to fill out the form first. Deadline to complete is January 14, 2025.
