We are excited to share that this year, the Sioux Falls School District has expanded the E-Sports Program to each high school! For those who may not be familiar, E-Sports involves competitive video gaming and is a rapidly growing field. It offers fantastic opportunities for students, whether they choose to pursue careers in technology or aim for professional E-Sports leagues.
Lincoln E-Sports will be competing in two popular games this year: Rocket League and League of Legends. Rocket League is an exhilarating game that combines soccer with cars, where players skillfully navigate an arena to control the ball both on the ground and in the air, with aerial maneuvers being a common sight. Each match lasts 5 minutes, with the potential for overtime. On the other hand, League of Legends is a strategic tower defense game where players level up to unlock new abilities and gather gold to buy items, all while defending our towers and trying to destroy the opposing team's towers.
This past Tuesday, we had our first regular season Rocket League match against Flandreau competing in a best of 5 series. During this match, we secured our first win of the season with a clean sweep, finishing the series 3-0 and starting off with a 1-0 record! Our next game is scheduled for next Tuesday at 5:00 PM against Sioux Falls Jefferson.
