Both of Lincoln's Cross Country teams have begun their competitive seasons and have already made some noise!
The boy's team, looking to repeat at AA state champions, placed 1st at the Augustana Twilight on September 6th, edging out a good Bismarck team. At the race, LHS had an impressive 5 runners break the 16 minute mark on the 5,000 meter trail, which is a first for a team from South Dakota. Seniors Nathan Thompson, Joseph Leveque, and Aemil Nelson are the leaders of the squad, with junior Miles Lechtenberg and sophomore Tyrus Needles both contributing as two of the top runners in the state.
The girl's team has also impressed in the early going, with a 1st place finish at the Mack Butler Invitational and a 4th place result at Augustana Twilight. Sophomore Mia Kadi has been the top runner for the Pats, with sophomore Emmeline Murray, freshmen Brielle Jenkins and Kaylor Nekl, as well as junior Ruby Bouwman all contributing the team's success.
Good luck to both teams as they continue to run hard and compete for Lincoln!
