Jefferson Counseling

Sioux Falls Jefferson High School claims a rare distinction from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). The JHS Counseling Department earned the RAMP designation, which stands for "Recognized ASCA Model Program." It’s an honor given to schools that have successfully implemented a comprehensive, data-driven counseling program based on the ASCA National Model.

  • Foundation: Establishing a clear vision, mission, and philosophy that guide the counseling program.

  • Delivery: Implementing direct counseling services (like individual counseling, group counseling, adn classroom lessons) and indirect services (such as referrals, consultations, and collaborations with other staff).

  • Management: Using tools like time management, school data, and ethical standards to run the program efficiently.

  • Accountability: Assessing the effectiveness of the program, tracking outcomes, and making data-driven decisions to improve student success.

Achieving RAMP status shows that a school’s counseling program is impactful, intentional, and in alignment with best practices in the field of school counseling. Congratulations JHS Counseling Staff and thank you for your commitment to serving students in such an impactful way!
