This past year we were blessed with an intern for our Dual Immersion program.
Laura de la Calva is a primary education & kindergarten teacher who came to us from Palencia, Spain.
Hayward was one of four schools in the district to host an intern from Spanish speaking countries. These interns gave students and staff the opportunity to learn about the different cultures, teaching styles, traditions, and dialects of the different Hispanic countries.
We want to thank Laura for being such a great intern this year!

Students from McGovern Middle School graced us with show choir and jazz band performances. While all the students did a fantastic job singing, dancing, and playing their instruments, we think those Hayward alumni were pretty phenomenal up there!!

The Sioux Falls School Board approved a recommendation at their meeting tonight to move the last day of school from Tuesday, May 24, 2022 to Wednesday, May 25, 2022 due to the one day of school missed for inclement weather in December.

Shoutout to Tammy Ramstad, Payton Pry, and Megan Lang’at for being nominated for the 2022 Dr. John W. Harris Teacher of the Year. Congratulations! The Teacher of the Year event will be held on March 14th, 2022.
Superintendent Jane Stavem hosted nearly 50 future educators Tuesday for "Bagels with the Boss." Student teachers currently working in SFSD classrooms joined us to learning about job opportunities, hear about the support offered by the District's Instructional Coaches, and connect with leadership. We look forward to adding many of these new teachers to our team in the Fall!
