CTE’s “See the Vision” award winner is someone who appreciates the opportunities that she has at the CTE Academy. Kimberly Aguirre is a senior from Roosevelt High School and plans to attend Southeast Technical College next fall. Kim’s Culinary Teacher, Mrs. Whempner wrote, “Kim is a serious student and I appreciate the fact that Kim realizes that we are really lucky to have an opportunity such as the CTE Academy.” The CTE Academy recently opened a coffee shop and Kim demonstrated this conviction by being one of the first students to volunteer to work in the coffee shop. Mrs. Whempner added, “I think she would make an excellent chef!” Kim is undecided between culinary or digital media for a potential career field but we know she is a committed student and knows the value of a significant endeavor. Congratulations, Kim Aguirre!

The Aviation students are learning about gyroscopic behaviors by building their own bottle gyroscopes. The students will create and fly the plastic gyroscope and then observe the manner in which it flies. They will then apply what they know about aerodynamics, the four forces of flight, and gyroscopic principles to explain why the bottle maneuvers the way it did during the test flights.
