Happy Social Worker Week!
In the Sioux Falls School District, every student's journey is unique. For many of the kids we serve, our school social workers are there every step of the way! Whether offering a listening ear, connecting families to resources, or advocating for students' well-being, their dedication ignites hope and creates lasting impact in our schools.
This year's theme, Unite to Ignite: Celebrating Our Impact, is a perfect reflection of how our social workers bring people together to create brighter futures for students.
THANK YOU to our incredible school social workers for your compassion and care!

Today was the last Director Called Meeting for this school year. Teachers spent time backward planning strong Tier 1 instruction for the 4th quarter of school in the area of Mathematics.
Before the hard work starts, we always begin with a team builder. Today's team builder was similar to the game Master Mind. One person created a pattern that was hidden, while other members of the team made one move to try and match the pattern.

THANKS TO STARBUCKS for the generous donation of CAKE POPS for each our our 5th grade students and for supplying the cups so our 5th grade teachers could make "pink drinks" for each student.

Also, a huge congratulations to the other four finalists, Jennifer Aerts, Bryan Aukerman, Scott Amundson, and Jessica Foley. A recent Facebook post regarding Washington High School falsely claimed a routine request for a birth certificate was related to immigration status.
State Law (SDCL 13-27-3.1-3.3) requires all public school students to have a birth certificate on file within 30 days of enrollment. When required records are missing from student files, school staff regularly attempt to contact families before sending the required information to the State’s Attorney.
These requests are made solely to ensure compliance with State Law and to maintain complete student records. They are in no way related to immigration enforcement. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our students and their families.
Please reach out to your child’s school or the district office with any questions rather than relying on social media for accurate information. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping student records up to date.

With the extensive professional development our teachers have been immersed in over the past few weeks, we took some time to pause and recharge.
Yesterday, our staff came together for a learning session centered on self-care and strengthening our school culture. Educators had the opportunity to choose activities that helped them relax and connect, including coloring, puzzling, and games.
The session emphasized the importance of well-being and teamwork, creating a positive and supportive environment for all. To add to the experience, staff enjoyed strawberry floats and snacks. It was a refreshing and meaningful time for all!

There will be a PTA meeting tonight, Tuesday, February 11th, at Cleveland Elementary beginning at 5:15.

With an outstanding 95.94%, Class 203 takes the top spot, closely followed by Class 501 with an impressive 95.75%. Your commitment to showing up each day makes a huge difference in learning and our school community. Keep up the great work, and let's continue striving for even higher attendance next month!

This morning during our in-service, Cleveland and Susan B. Anthony teachers participated in professional learning using the PLC+ model. Teachers worked together to share ideas, reflect on their teaching practices, and find new ways to support student learning and success. These professional learning days are all about growing as educators so our teachers can better meet the needs of your children in the classroom.

REMINDER: There is no school tomorrow, Monday, February 3rd. Teachers will be attending In-service in the morning followed by Parent-Teacher Conferences from 12:00-7:00 at Cleveland.
If you are unsure of your scheduled time, you can call the school office. We look forward to sharing the progress of your child/ren with you during your scheduled time Monday or Thursday night of this week.
