Other Requirements
Current State Vehicle operator’s license, ability to operate all delivery vehicles in the District fleet safely; insurable. Ability to work unsupervised. Good attendance. Ability to communicate and follow written and oral direction. Ability to demonstrate recognition of equipment malfunction. Demonstrated positive attitude towards people with whom one works, ability to work cooperatively and willingness to accept instructions and training.
Essential Functions & Duties
Operates assigned vehicle to pickup, transport and deliver the following: US Mail; inter-school mail; supplies, furnishings and equipment items; copy center, library media and print shop materials according to an established route. Includes sorting US Mail and inter-school mail.
Coordinates with other staff within Purchasing Department for pickup and delivery of choral risers, shells and chairs for special programs and events (i.e. graduation, musical programs) throughout the District.
Modifies and adjusts delivery and/or mail route to facilitate timely delivery of needed equipment or accommodate emergency deliveries.
Coordinates and schedules delivery routes with other staff within Purchasing Department.
Prepares US Mail and UPS for afternoon pickup by carriers.
Loads and unloads assigned vehicles. Operates forklift.
Maintains neat and clean areas and performs all custodial duties throughout the warehouse, mail room and dock areas.
Processes incoming deliveries, stocks shelves, picks orders and prepares for delivery to buildings.
Maintains assigned vehicles, tools and equipment. Makes recommendations for supplies and equipment to Supervisor of Purchasing.
Assists with snow removal.
Works a revised schedule and substitutes for other Operational Services staff when necessary.
Shares responsibility for holiday, extended day and weekend activities.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Climatic Environment - Inside and Outside
Occasionally required to work at extremes of temperature and humidity.
Hazards
Occasionally subjected to vibrations, mechanical and electrical hazards. Caution also required to avoid potential for burns. Atmospheric conditions occasionally include fumes, dust and poor ventilation.
