Requirements

Education Level

Bachelor’s degree in network/systems administration or other related area of study plus three years’ experience in network/workstation administration. or 2 year technical/associates degree in network/systems administration or other related area of study plus five years’ experience in network/workstation administration.

Experience Required

Industry certifications (preferred): Azure Administrator Associate, Teams Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional (VCP), or relevant certifications in enterprise endpoint and cloud technologies.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and move equipment up to 40 pounds. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers frequently required, as well as keyboarding, lifting, standing, and grasping. Requires hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing, walking, and driving.

Essential Function & Duties

  1. Coordinates the district’s development, configuration, installation, and maintenance of endpoint devices and other hardware and software systems including VoIP.

  2. Researches and recommends innovative, automated approaches to system administration tasks to enhance efficiency and scalability of solutions using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python)

  3. Manages operating system patches and configures new services and administrative tools as necessary.

  4. Oversees device and application deployment systems.

  5. Assists the development team in resolving system and application issues related to systems interoperability.

  6. Provides Tier III support for escalated technical issues, investigating and resolving complex problems involving district systems with limited direct supervision.

  7. Performs daily system monitoring to verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, including reviewing logs and backups.

  8. Works with external vendors, suppliers, and technical support teams to address system needs and troubleshoot issues.

  9. Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures, to support operations and audits.

  10. Ensures district readiness for online assessments, troubleshooting technical issues, and preparing district systems to meet testing requirements.

  11. Participates in the evaluation of new technologies and vendor solutions to align with district goals.

  12. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  1. Familiarity with enterprise device deployment and management, including imaging for Windows, Chrome, Mac, and iOS devices using Group Policy Management and MDM configurations.

  2. Familiarity of network and system security principles, including endpoint protection, software patching, network protocols (FTP, SNMP, TCP/IP, Ethernet) and backup solutions.

  3. Familiarity with single sign-on (SSO) technologies, cloud-based administration, data center operations, and other software systems.

  4. Familiarity with enterprise VoIP solutions.

  5. Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system and application issues.

  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders.

  7. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
