EDUCATION LEVEL: | Must meet No Child Left Behind requirement of two years post high school education or higher, or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota. |

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: | This position requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing, frequent bending over, crouching, reaching, removing, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, threading, turning and walking. Frequent carrying, grasping, holding, lifting, opening, pulling, unfolding and unlocking are also required. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. |

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES
1. Escorts students to transportation and other areas of the building.
2. As needed provides personal care to students with special daily living needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, physical management).
3. Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups in special education classroom and/or regular classroom.
4. Works with students in schools and on community outings.
5. Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
6. Reinforces instructional/behavioral objectives.
7. Provides clerical assistance to maintaining student records (charting, assignments, attendance, data for progress notes).
8. Assists with the supervision of students during recess, lunchroom, and on the playground.
9. Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
10. Reinforces instructional and behavioral objectives for children.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
CLIMATIC ENVIRONMENT | Inside & Outside
Occasionally subjected to outside/cold below 32 degrees. Occasionally subjected to heat above 100 degrees. Occasionally subjected to extreme noise (children screaming as means of communication). Occasionally subjected to dusts.
HAZARDS
Caution must be taken for potential burns while cooking. Often rubber gloves provided for personal care of students as a protective device.
