● Participate in and provide recommendations regarding developing and
administering the department budget and initiating requisitions.

and providing input with other managers regarding large district
information technology budgets.
Summary
Essential Functions & Duties
1. Provide direction and information to and manage Network Engineers, Systems Engineers, and IT Service
Delivery
2. Establish roles, processes, standards, and strategies for effective IT systems and operations. Provide
strategic and tactical planning, development, evaluation, and coordination of IT systems.
3. Initiate, plan, oversee, develop, and participate in District-wide, school-wide, and/or department
technology projects, including installation, operation, maintenance, and upgrade of voice and data
networks, network storage, cloud, virtualization, and IT security systems. Develop processes and
procedures for efficient utilization, security, compliance, and operation of technology systems, Disaster
Recovery/Business Continuity processes, and all other IT support services provided.
4. Create, modify, evaluate, and contribute information to the information technology budget process. Guide
large and small information technology purchases. Collaborate with the Senior Director of ITS and create
processes and standards regarding the purchase of information technology-related systems.
5. Provide direction and management of testing and evaluation of information technology services, products,
and/or tools, including network voice and data equipment for District purchase. Create District
implementation standards for new equipment or upgrades. Define and review operational metrics and
monitoring/alerts for critical IT services.
6. Mediate, facilitate, coordinate, and evaluate the professional relationships of subordinates. Prepare and
perform employee evaluations, establish, and maintain professional behavior, and encourage and
empower employees with the tools for professional growth. Commence positive disciplines and/or related
employee growth plans. Hire and terminate employees as needed.
7. Initiate, conduct, and participate in meetings with district staff and administration, school staff and
administration, IT Technical teams, and management. Provide and receive information at meetings.
Provide project management, as necessary.
8. Provide emergency backup to WAN and LAN Analysts in times of crisis or when the service of managers,
directors, Board members, or principals is involved. Perform information technology service when calls and
situations are escalated.

Climatic Environment - Both Inside & Out
Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District classrooms and work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.
Hazards
For some buildings, stairs, chalk-dust and exposure to communicable diseases may be a potential hazard. In science labs, there could be exposure to chemicals and fumes. Equipment that supports classroom instruction could be potentially hazardous under certain conditions.
