Education Level

Two years of post-secondary education or higher is desired.

Experience Desired

Basic knowledge of technology including Chromebooks & Google Suite. Desire to work with high school students, and experience with library procedures.

Physical Requirements

Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent speaking, writing, standing, walking, lifting, and keyboarding are required.

Other Requirements

Good attendance, ability to adapt to a frequently changing work environment. Excellent communication skills and a passion for reading.

Essential Functions & Duties

  1. Performs Circulation duties consisting of

    • Securing interlibrary loans between buildings.

    • Maintaining the book-room

    • Shelving and entering books into the catalog.

    • Returning materials to proper location in a timely manner.

    • Processing new library materials.

    • Mending library materials.

    • Preparing book displays throughout the school

  2. Enters and maintains data and information:

    • To ensure student information in the library system accurately matches the District’s student database.

    • Related to inventory, book records, and supplemental reading books.

    • Collecting and tracking fines and refunds

    • Related to checkout schedules for the library, labs, and equipment.

  3. Assists students and staff

    • To locate books and other materials as needed.

    • To ensure students have the technology they need

    • To troubleshoot technology resources

    • With textbook checkout

    • To search various online databases

  4. Assists the librarian

    • By Producing overdue notices,

    • By sending email and/or letters home to recover overdue materials.

    • By helping students and teachers with classroom research projects.

    • By removing obsolete, worn out and damaged materials

    • By distributing library mail

  5. Assists in maintaining library cleanliness and appearance.

  6. Supervises students in the library, including before and after school as required.

  7. Other duties as assigned (Print student IDs, inventory, large scale library projects)

Working Conditions

Climatic Environment - Inside and Outside

Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District classrooms and work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.

Hazards

Stairs and exposure to communicable diseases may be potential hazards. In labs/classrooms there could be exposure to toxic chemicals and fumes. Equipment that supports classroom instruction could be potentially hazardous under certain conditions.
