REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION LEVEL:

BA/BS Education (preferred)

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Interest in Esports/gaming. Experience working with high school students and experience as a player is desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Hand-eye, mind-eye coordination, hearing; intermittent speaking, standing, walking, and writing.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Exhibits strong organizational skills. Strong recruiting skills. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work with and give constructive feedback to students. Ability to take direction. Ability to travel to team practice venue. Ability to work after school hours, including Saturday tournaments.

RECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM:

Fine Arts Coordinator, Activities Administrators

SEASON:

Pre-season activities begin in October with the season concluding following the SDHSAA tournament in March.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

  1. Directs and coordinates all aspects, areas, and components of the Esports team

  2. Recruits and retains students for the Esports program

  3. Organizes, schedules, prepares, and conducts individual and team practices, training, team building activities, and competitions, along with coordination and management with third-party gaming platform vendor

  4. Determines team roster for practices and competitions

  5. Oversees computer equipment usage; assists students with set-up and operation of equipment

  6. Oversees and manages the program budget, including ordering of supplies, equipment, uniforms, and subscriptions services

  7. With guidance from administration, organizes team travel

  8. Supervises students during practice times and competitions, including off-site travel

  9. Follows all Sioux Falls School District and SDHSAA Policies, ensuring team compliance with all policies and regulations and eligibility guidelines

  10. Troubleshoots potential technical problems and coordinates with District IT staff

  11. Works with district administration to establish a vision for the program by establishing, publicizing, and promoting the program

  12. Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate

WORKING CONDITIONS

CLIMATIC ENVIRONMENT | Inside & Outside

Typically, work is conducted in a comfortable environment. Some District work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity.

HAZARDS

For some buildings, stairs, and exposure to communicable diseases may be a potential hazard. In science labs, there could be exposure to chemicals and fumes. Equipment that supports classroom instruction could be potentially hazardous under certain conditions. Travel between schools will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
