Physical Requirements

This position requires hand-eye and mind-eye coordination. Speaking, writing, sitting, bending, and walking are constantly required.

Essential Functions & Duties

  1. Monitor the authorized access into a school through designated entrance locations during designated periods of the school day.

  2. Keep building and grounds clear of people not on official school business.

  3. Escort violators or school policy offenders to school authorities and assists administration as needed.

  4. Serve as a greeter at designated entrances ensuring that visitors follow proper sign-in procedures and offer assistance by giving directions and answering questions.

  5. Check hall passes and escort students as necessary.

  6. Patrol and supervise hallways, cafeteria, restrooms, entrance ways, school grounds and boiler rooms as well as parking and bus areas.

  7. Assist school resource officers (SRO) as directed by Principal or designee.

  8. Will carry a portable radio provided by the District and display a District/school identification badge.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Other Possible Performance Responsibilities

  1. Assume traffic and parking lot responsibilities as assigned by Principal or designee.

  2. Assist as directed by school authorities in stopping disturbances and undue distractions.

  3. Confer with the Principal/Assistant Principal on matters of concern.

  4. Attend safety and other meetings as requested by the Principal or designee.

  5. Prepare and submit written reports of security and discipline violations as required by the Principal or designee.

  6. Assume evacuation drill/lock down responsibilities as assigned by Principal or designee.

Working Conditions

Climatic Environment - Inside and Outside

Some District classrooms and work areas are not climate controlled and are subject to extremes of temperature and humidity. The itinerant status of this position requires exposure to the outside environment as travel between schools is required.

Hazards

Stairs, drafts, and exposure to communicable diseases. Travel between schools will cause exposure to hazardous driving and walking conditions.
